An open level Hatha yoga practice is exactly as the class name suggests, it starts on your back with some belly breathing to ground down and truly arrive on your mat. Resting into the floor brings awareness to hips, pelvis and lower back, before transitioning into down dog. This mindful sequence has a focus on bringing strength to the lower back and is a lovely general heart, side body, sacral and shoulder opener. Some core activation helps to strengthen the front body in order to the lower back. The smooth instrumental reggae is chilled and uplifting.
Props required: 2 blocks + 1 strap.

Nadine McNeil’s twenty-odd year career within the United Nations, serving at locations across the globe, is what guided her towards yoga, primarily as a necessary tool for self-care while serving in volatile, conflict scenarios. Her current mission includes designing and implementing a yoga module that especially supports those who tirelessly serve others through their daily work.
