This 45-minute class aims to give basic principles of yoga and breath inspired by Khrishnamacarya's teaching: utilising ujjayi breath. Cheri will lead you on how to implement basic breath that will help to support your yoga movements. This Gentle Yoga practice is one that will tune you in to your inner world and the consciousness of breath as you flow with kind, aware and compassionate intent. Enjoy as you soften through this well-rounded class softening and accepting where you are in each moment, and equally in your day.

Meet the instructor

Cheri Rae Russell

As a young woman, a very determined and disciplined Cheri Rae worked her way to becoming a champion professional ice skater. At the age of 17, however, she critically injured her knee landing a jump. It was Yoga that rehabilitated her, and from there she found her life’s passion. She loved Yoga so much that left on an international journey to pursue it, studying directly with teachers such as Pattabhi Jois, Frank White and others. In her odyssey, she taught everywhere she stopped — India, Thailand and Indonesia. Cheri Rae met her romantic partner Gabe and together they helped bring Cheri’s vision of Peace Yoga Gallery to fruition. Peace Yoga Gallery is a 4,000-square foot oasis of peace in downtown Los Angeles, with programs in yoga, a raw food kitchen, Healing, Art and amazing weekly events.
